Denise is now traveling across the United States presenting her "Therapeutic Parenting & Interventions for Traumtized Children" training and is available for in-house staff training, conferences and private consulation, including ongoing support via email, phone and webcam. The training is appropiate for foster, adoptive and brith parents, as well as professionals working with these populations. Participants who attend her training will leave being able to see a child's behavior in an entirely new perspective, and with a toolbox of new interventions.

       As Director of The Adoption & Attachment Treatment Center of Iowa, Denise has developed a Therapeutic Parenting Treatment model that addresses the specific needs of traumatized children.  She has trained with most of the top specialists in Reactive Attachment Disorder and Trauma.  Parents participating in services at Adoption and Treatment Center of Iowa indicate that this parenting model reduces their own stress by 70%.  It is a critical component to our treatment model.

• Understand how trauma and neglect impacts brain development, and what this looks like in behaviors at different developmental stages.
• Learn how to identify Trauma-Triggers and how to better meet your child at their fears, rather than behaviors.

• Learn how to identify what is driving your child’s behaviors & gain insight into their confusing model of the world; this allows you to better attune to their needs, decrease their anxiety, and feel successful in Parenting!
• Learn unique interventions to pull out of power struggles while simultaneously setting them up for success and how to identify what is driving a child's behaviors; this program teaches you how to meet the child behind, not AT the behavior, (creating incessant power struggles).
• Understand the driving force/impact of shame and anxiety, and how to identify these powerful and masterfully 'mis-cued' emotions as well as Pons-survival behaviors, and the  power of empathy.
• The entire afternoon is spent on specific interventions to address the true emotions driving a child's behaviors, which will allow you to pull out of power struggles, leave problems with the kids, and help them reach a higher level of functioning. 
• For the past year, AATC of Iowa has the healing edge of Neurological Reorganization on-site.  This has shifted how we provide treatment, and had a significant impact on our Therapeutic Parenting Program; it is important to know when and how to shift your parenting from “Therapeutic” back to “normal”. 
• Additional information is provided on how and when to shift away from Therapeutic Parenting, sibling trauma bonds, and interventions for daycare and school staff.
• You will come away with the ability to see a child's behaviors through a new lens, and an entirely re-loaded tool box of interventions to better respond to an Attachment-Traumatized child.
