Denise provides a Therapeutic Parenting Program for parents of adopted children that also works well for most behavior disorders.  Children who have experienced early neglect, multiple moves, abuse and/or trauma often have their own model of how the world works.  At the Adoption & Attachment Treatment Center of Iowa we are also seeing an increase in similar behaviors in children with birth trauma or whom were born premature. 

Most parenting programs are designed to address the behavior and are outcome-focused on compliance - these programs make these type of children's behaviors worse!  Denise's Therapeutic Parenting Program helps parents to first better understand the child's "Internal Working Model" of the world, and provides interventions to pull out of power struggles, leave the responsibility for the problem with the child, and to help the child reach a higher level of functioning.
